One of the most perfect breakfast meals has evolved to become the popular dessert it is today. Waffles. That criss-cut design. That golden brown hue. The smell of butter and cream. What better way to have it than have it often. Create your own at home! And instead of the conventional flat waffle maker, try a waffle maker bowl! Wonderful Waffles With A Waffle Maker Bowl Waffles are traditionally prepared as flat treats, heated in between two iron plates that fold together. These mold the unleavened dough for that oh-so-distinctively popular design we’re all too familiar with. Waffle Maker Bowl: Classic Types Of Waffles With so many variations to count, we’ve listed down the basic, most classic types of waffles. The original kinds, if you will: American Waffle. This is the most common make. Also, the American Waffle has the simplest recipe to date. It’s usual ingredients include sugar, flour, baking powder and a little salt. In another bowl, whisk eggs until the yolk and the whites are no longer distinguishable from one another. Add in warm milk, along with drops of vanilla and a cup of melted butter. Pour this mixture in the first (dry ingredients). While whisking, heat the waffle maker. Once the batter is smooth and ready, simply pour it in and wait for the automatic timed response of the waffle iron. The second kind is the Belgian Waffle. The difference between this and the first is that it has deeper pockets per “square”. Additional, they’re usually lighter and crispier. These can be made with yeast. Although this can also be substituted with baking powder. Wonderful Waffles With A Waffle Maker Bowl Another is the Liege Waffle. You’d be delighted to know that this also originated from Belgium. A Liege Waffle is smaller in size compared to the two we’ve mentioned earlier (almost like the size of a regular doughnut). To add, it’s topped with caramelized sugar. The fourth has its roots in Southeast East. We’ve got Hong Kong’s Egg Waffle. Or, aptly put, the Hong Kong Waffle. An Egg Waffle’s main ingredient is nothing less than egg itself, and the rest are the same. A special type of waffle iron with “bubbles” instead of “squares” is used for this. Very much like a sandwich, the toppings are put in between the folds instead, as fillings. Waffle History The 1200s saw this then delicacy emerge when a Dutch craftsman invented cooking irons that have a criss-cut plating. In the 1600s the Dutch brought the delicacy over to the Americas where it became highly popularized. However, it was in the 1700s when the name “Waffle” actually came from the French word “Guafre,” which was then translated to the Old English “Wafla.” As commercial success became the Waffle’s destination, a much more efficient flat iron was highly needed. This was solved in the 1780’s when the United State’s very own Thomas Jefferson returned from France with a long-handled maker which closes both plates more easily. Plus, this new invention gave the waffle’s sides that crispy outer “crust.” Waffle Maker Bowl For A Unique Shape If you already have that basic waffle maker, why not try a new one?
