The French Revolution is considered one of the most significant events in history. And it lasted for around 11 years from 1789 to the end of the 1790s. The French Revolution marked the descent of the monarchy because of the firm will and unity of the common people. Therefore, it showed the world that constant efforts and unification could make everything possible. But all of the aims were not fulfilled. Apart from that, the French Revolution also took the lives of many. Still, it has been a crucial event in making the world what it is today. Case Study On French Revolution Reasons Of French Revolution Existence of the monarchy was the primary reason. The power implemented to monarchs had no boundaries. Kings like Louis XV, Louis XIV, and Louis XVI made the French economy weaker. The rulers were used to unlimited power and luxurious life. And also, their ineffective policies ruined the French economy badly. Furthermore, Marie Antoinette, wife of Louis XVI, played a significant role in the deterioration of France. Therefore, flawed administration and self-centered monarchy caused the outbreak of the French Revolution. Another cause of it was the discrimination in the wealthy class and poor class. Government divided the society into three categories, highest being the Clergy, Nobles, and lowest was the Common People. And most of the people belonging to Clergy and Nobles were devoid of paying taxes. While for all the luxury and extravaganza of higher classes, officials collected taxes from the ordinary people. This biased injustice motivated the common people to rebel against the monarchs. In the movement, the lower Clergy and provincial Nobles also supported commoners. Case Study On French Revolution Consequences Of French Revolution The French Revolution not only influenced France but also affected the rest of Europe. The first and foremost thing that changed was the decline of the Bourbon dynasty in 1792. And in its place, people set up a Republican Form of Government . Another was the abolishment of Feudalism. It embarked the progress of peasants and agricultural class. Before this, Catholic churches held a high position in the administration. Officials collected a form of tax called Tithes from farmers in the name of the church. After the end of it, powers of Catholic churches were seized. With the end of the monarchy, different ideologies came to life. Most of the ideologies were based on liberalism and nationalism. Therefore, the modern way of administration was based on the famous slogan ‘ liberty, equality, fraternity.’ Most Important Names Of French Revolution It started from the fort of Bastille and came to an end with the arrival of Napoleon Bonaparte. Marquis de Lafayette and Count of Mirabeau played a significant role in the uprising of the French Revolution. A writer named Emanuel Joseph Sieyes helped in igniting the flame of revolution in France. Leaders from the external parts of France also got involved and made the revolution successful. And those names included Napoleon Bonaparte and Lazare Carnot. Conclusion The struggles and challenges faced by the common men led them to start a revolution against the monarchy. And the fight was neither easy nor short-termed. But the constant efforts and bravery resulted in the success of the it. People considered it as partially successful, as several issues were still left unsolved. The revolution made the French economy stronger, but it took more than a decade.
